Book Description:

A forbidden marriage, jealous colleagues, the struggle for power, and murder. It’s a story as old as time —and as old as Shakespeare.

Modern day Manhattan. A hundred-hour-plus workweek, minimum.  No complaints. TGO fed you and, if necessary seduced and bedded you in order to service the clients and their enormous deals. No question this was home, though this was not family. This was better than family.  And Odell was their leader.
Enter into the life of Odell Moore, one of New York’s most successful lawyers, an African-American who finds his life turned sideways when he meets the woman of his dreams. Dee is the southern white daughter of one of Alabama’s elite, a racist with possible ties to the KKK. Her father’s anger about their inter-racial marriage force them to elope, and the couple escapes into another world of danger, jealousy and deceit in the Manhattan legal world. As their marriage is tested, their values challenged, and their friendships tried, will they last? Then there’s a murder, and Odell is a suspect. Did he do it?

This legal thriller will leave you breathless to the very last page of Norman Bacal’s debut novel. Reminiscent of Othello, it is the first in a series of novels based on Shakespeare’s work.

Book Review:

ODELL'S FALL
Author: Norman Bacal

What makes a great story, it depends on the individual reader. How much does a writer put into their work? Well let me tell you Norman Bacal put his soul into his work, this book reaches out to almost every type of reader. I enjoy almost all types of reading and I was surprised how much Odell’s Fall had packed into its story line. There is a love story, drama , murder, mystery, and the rest I’ll let you find discover; but I was amazed of the  complexity the story line entailed.
Norman enriched us with immense amount of descriptive writing, his characters and the world he created springs to life with each authentic detail that evolved and came to life. There’s a lawyer, Odell works at a very successful law firm and another lawyer close to him that betrays him all for power and greed. There is also where Odell falls in love and race becomes a factor for and spins life into a spiral with deceit from friends and family.
There is so much in this book there’s a part of you trying to play detective also trying to put the pieces to this mystery  together before you get to the end that has all the answers. I couldn’t put the book down, I recommend you read this book it certainly will not disappoint you.

About The Author:

Norman Bacal (1956-) has been one of Canada's most prominent entertainment lawyers. He has concluded a successful career leading and building an international law firm and sat on the board of a Hollywood studio for almost ten years.

He knows lawyers, the inside of boardrooms, the tension, drama and machinations that drive big business and their leaders. That's why he's been writing about them since 2015. His first book Breakdown, was a Globe and Mail and Amazon bestseller, telling the story of the rise and fall of iconic Heenan Blaikie, home to two Canadian prime ministers, a firm he helped to build.

His upcoming release, Odell's Fall (October 2019) is his first fiction, a modern day Othello set in Manhattan. More detail on that to come in the summer of 2019. Odell's Fall will be a first in a series of Shakespeare modernizations. Love, jealousy, and treachery, add up to only one thing: murder.

Corgan Halton was tired of human misconceptions about vampires. He planned on telling Marisa his story and end his existence. It was no coincidence Corgan selected Marisa to write his story. With the ability to see the future, he knew she would be a major part of it. He knew she would be the one to help him die, but in doing so, she’d be doomed to the same fate.
