Book Description:

For underworld enforcer Richard "Rico" Sanders, it seemed like an ordinary job. Retrieve his gangster boss's priceless pigeon-blood red ruby necklace and teach the double-dealing cheat who stole it a lesson. A job like a hundred before it. But the chase quickly goes sideways and takes Rico from the mean streets of Chicago to sunny Honolulu, where the hardened hit man finds himself in uncharted territory when a couple of innocent bystanders are accidentally embroiled in the crime. As Rico pursues his new targets, the hunter and his prey develop an unlikely respect for one another and Rico is faced with a momentous decision: follow his orders to kill the couple whose courage and character have won his admiration, or refuse and endanger the life of the woman he loves?

Pigeon Blood -Red (Thrilogy) by Ed Duncan is a  mystery story and is the first of a "Thrilogy." It's a crime enforcer/thriller. With that said let me say you'll be intertwined in a mission to retrieve a priceless ruby necklace, stolen by who? That im not privy to say. Like any good story though you have your crime boss, gangsters, and a indebted gambler that steals the necklace, and the hunt starts. Oops I guess I was privy to say who stole the necklace..but not much more I dare say.

Pigeon-Blood Red by Ed Duncan is the first in the Thrilogy that like any first book has its ups and downs. Thr first book lays down the foundation, gives us an idea of what the series is about and its charachters. That being said I do feel that the characters in the story could have been a little bit more introduced, the characters whose lives intertwined with each other could have been a little better developed. Overall the story is well developed, the plot was well perceived, the sequence of events was well described to detail, the scene and action taken place in the story and the back story was well thought out and described.

I myself felt the story was filled with much mystery, it had that thrill, but it's lacking suspense. The idea was there but that intense feeling was missing, but overall this story is a gangster thriller mystery which makes me wonder how the sequel will continue. The violence, the lies, and everything that makes a good gangster story, Ed Duncan has evolved it into his book. I enjoyed reading a good gangster story so I think besides the lack of suspense this is a good read.
