Courting Mrs. McCarthy there is one thing to keep in mind, "However, sometimes those who are quickest to judge are the last ones who should be throwing stones". The book description says it perfectly, but in the end we will do it anyway. We let Media do it for us, schools, the social construct, are friends and neighbors....in today's day and age a 17 year old with someone considerably older than one self is less of a taboo subject no matter how hard we try to keep it there.

Courting Mrs. McCarthy written by Ian Thomas Malone proves just from the first few pages that he has strong writing capabilities, coming off strong in developing his characters, a plot and storyline that is clear but even with string of social issues he does touch on, it feels like the author is holding back. Intentional or not, the author could develop the storyline more, delve more into backgrounds because as much as many wish to think it, actions aren't just black and white there more to the story, normally and generally more complicated.

It comes off to simple to the end, but your writing about something that has more consequences even for those who did not mind then. There is more than angry people and petty threats, a ending does not resolve easy, even when we wish so.

Ian Thomas Malone though set quite a example for future writers of the genre,there is more than one story to be written. Instead of panhandling the same thing over and over again. A strong writer willing not confine oneself to social constraints and to what people feel comfortable with. Pushing boundaries in the written word, this novel overall is a nice read, I just feel the author could have pushed his writing a little further. For not seeing many books as well written with the topics discussed, I feel that is quite minor. The author knew to bring enough understanding to why the character was doing what one chose to do but also left out points that made a little believable but that's a minor fact. I do see many would enjoy this quick and simple read.
