Book Description:
In a medieval fantasy world where a handful of refugees from a Viking-like world now live in peace in a village of Shining Star people in the Great Turtle Lands, Greeta faces a dilemma. Although she longs to be married and have children, her sweetheart is balking. Something is wrong, and she suspects it’s because she looks nothing like any other young women. Instead of being petite and dark, Greeta is tall and pale. 

For the first time in her life, Greeta is beginning to realize she has nowhere to fit in. And she could be facing a lonely life without love or a family of her own. 

The appearance of a shaman in her village changes everything. The shaman insists Greeta must learn to walk in the Dreamtime because dark days approach and a key to the survival of all people in the Great Turtle Lands will be a gift that Greeta doesn’t yet know she has. Convinced she no longer belongs in her own village, Greeta leaves with the shaman. 

But the travels beyond the village Greeta has always known and loved soon become perilous. She will soon learn that Dragonfly, the name given to her by the Shining Star people, is a clue to both the mysterious past she can’t remember as well as her future. 
Dragonfly is Book 1 in the new epic fantasy adventure series that is also the second series set in Resa Nelson’s Dragonslayer World, a world brimming with female heroes, shapechangers, ghosts, and dragons. The Dragonfly series revolves around fantasy cultures inspired by the Norse exploration of Native America over 1000 years ago.

Dragonfly by Resa Nelson is the first in the Dragonfly Series and there a few short stories that accompany the series. The Author classifies the book as a "Epic Fantasy" which I feel fits this novel just right.So when I read the description for this book I was intrigued, it was something different, something I Was looking for in a book for a long time. One that encompasses a original plot and storyline. Don't get me wrong I have read a many good books that are fantasy, scifi, action, etc., but when a story line like this is done of a young person being misplaced and rejected they all have a similar theme. Resa was able to take it a little further, with a Neil Gaiman touch.


With a 'flur of fantasy and touch of scifi this book will break ground for a broader audience who is mor suited to one or the other. A adventure it will give you, suspense you shall have, while all the time caught up in the creation of the people and the meanings themselves that may as well take you on another adventure.

When Resa Nelson’s short story “The Dragonslayer’s Sword†was first published in Science Fiction Age magazine, it ranked 2nd in that magazine’s first Readers Top Ten poll. Around the same time, the manager of a major bookstore contacted the magazine editor asking how to buy the novel because many of his customers were asking to buy it. No such novel existed. Only the short story existed. Readers assumed it had come from a novel. This is when Resa realized all her readers are smarter than she is, because they knew there was more to the story. It only took her eight years to figure out what they already knew. She plans to write at least four series that take place in her Dragonslayer World. Series #1 (Dragonslayer Series) is complete. Dragonfly is Book 1 in the Dragonfly series.
